During our last spay trip, 6 % of all female dogs we operated had uterus infections. Such infections, also known as pyometra, most often occur in middle aged, unspayed dogs. Without treatment pyometra can lead to kidney failure and death. The only prevention; sterilisation. Working in towns without vets, we are the only chance of help for females with uterus infections, and by sterilising, we can prevent this happening to more dogs in the future.
