The Swakop Charity Shop was founded in October 2019 by Dr Athol McLean and Stephanie Ermann and is now not only employing two female Namibians but also, up to now, made it possible to sterilise over 700 additional dogs and cats! Furthermore, the Shop funds fundraising projects such as raffle sales, cake sales, and info tables and supports people in need with much needed items.
Community members donate unwanted or gently used items to the charity second-hand shop. These donations can come from individuals, businesses, or other organisations.
The donated items are sorted, organised, and prepared for sale. We assess the condition of the items and determine fair prices based on their value and market demand.
The funds raised through the Shop’s sales are allocated to support specific Have a Heart Namibia projects, such as spay days, veterinary care, education and awareness campaigns, and more. These projects aim to improve the lives of animals, promote responsible pet ownership, and address issues related to stray or abandoned animals.
Individuals contribute to funding these animal welfare projects by shopping at the Charity Shop. Their purchases directly support the initiatives undertaken by the organisation to impact the lives of animals in need positively.
Thanks to many fantastic people who opened their hearts towards Namibia’s less fortunate dogs and cats, Have a Heart has sterilised thousands of dogs and cats, preventing the birth of hundreds of thousands – most probably homeless – of dogs and cats.
